Job Summary

The Accommodations Business Unit (ABU) is the largest business unit at Booking and plays a vital role in the company’s success. It has many dependencies, including having shared initiatives, KPIs and processes, and works closely with other Business Units and Functions.

Within ABU, the Strategy & Business Operations team is responsible for setting the BU’s strategy, leading project/program management of strategic initiatives, driving change management and leading business operations.

The Senior Project Manager sits in the Business Operations team and will support the Customer Data, AI and Insights (CD) sub-department which is primarily responsible for the customer data, analytics, data science, and machine learning for the ABU Product tracks and the experimentation tooling and success for the entire company.

This role will be primarily responsible for the project management of key strategic initiatives within CD, with support from the Lead Business Operations & Program Manager. The Senior Project Manager will partner with various stakeholders and teams/tracks across the company to support, and proactively work with them, to drive and facilitate the work occurring between them and other business units and centralized functions.

Aside from this, the Senior Project Manager will support with business operations (management) activities such as organizing the reporting cadence, and helps to ensure that the CD teams roadmaps/plans focus on agreed business priorities, dependencies and strategies, and deliver against the shared objectives and main activities, with key milestones that have been agreed upon.

B.Responsible.

  • Lead independently low / medium complexity projects with global impact (cross-functional) and driving them through scoping, analysis, recommendation and implementation; Key projects that this role will be responsible for:
    • A large regulatory compliance topic pertaining to data (e.g. a new European legal act);
    • Scaling of analytical tools, ways of working and information sharing across CD.
  • With limited supervision, drive the project planning and scoping by documenting the project goals, success metrics, key milestones/deliverables and dependencies in a plan/roadmap.
  • Track, report and communicate project updates, insights and recommendations across all stakeholders in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Support the project teams to mitigate the risks/issues and dependencies to enable progress of key milestones and/or metrics.
  • Apply structured methodology to lead project/change management and/or business operations activities.
  • Develop and apply various frameworks to bring structure to complex issues and break down problems.
  • Own the successful delivery of the end-to-end project lifecycle.
  • Apply change management processes and tools to create a strategy to support adoption of the changes required by a project or initiative.
  • Ensure a project closing and correct handover to Business as Usual.
  • Responsible for preparing, improving, and if needed facilitating, insightful monthly and quarterly business reviews for CD and tracking of business objectives in line with the strategy highlighting, where required, risk/issues to governance groups, stakeholders or team members according to the governance cadence.
  • Evaluate the performance of current business operations and recommend strategies and tactics to achieve business goals; contribute to improving existing processes and build new intelligently designed ones to streamline ways of working.

B.Required.

  • Solid project management and business operations skills/experience (minimum of 3-5 years) and familiarity with project/change management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Ability to lead multiple low / medium complexity projects or portfolio of projects.
  • Ability to manage and influence stakeholders up to Director level, and productively interact with Senior Director or VP level.
  • Experience with digital data product lifecycle development
  • Experience with business operations.
  • Solid understanding of how people go through the change curve and the change process.
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships (both within a team and with wider stakeholders).
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Fluent in English. Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effectively communicate in small/medium groups; Strong influencer in 1:1 and small groups.
  • Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations and under pressure.
  • Organized with a natural inclination for planning strategy and tactics.
  • With limited supervision, ability to use quantitative and qualitative data, synthesize analysis into key findings, actionable insights and clear recommendations to drive decision making.
  • Strategic thinking, able to contribute to long term vision.
  • Strong problem solving and root cause identification skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Basic business acumen and understanding of organizational issues and challenges.
  • Experience with Jira Align and other project management software tooling is an advantage.
  • Experience with large-scale organizational change efforts is an advantage.
  • Experience in an e-commerce or digital product/tech/data environment is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of similar industries and/or data related projects is an advantage.
  • PMP or Agile Project Management or equivalent certification is preferred.
