Job Description
The Clinical Engineering (CE) department is responsible for assuring that the patient care instrumentation used within the Medical Center is safe and effective. This includes all aspects of acquisition, maintenance, and repair of the equipment. The Clinical Engineering department works with the clinical staff to write specifications for new equipment and to evaluate possible service contracts. The Clinical Engineering department is responsible for planned maintenance (PM) and repairs, including component level troubleshooting, as necessary. CE also coordinates PM and repairs by outside service personnel. A staff member is on-call for repairs 24 hours per day.
This is a temporary position for a student engineer. The student will work with CE staff and, under supervision, will assist them with basic PM and repairs of medical equipment. The student will also assist CE staff with the development of a computer based inventory control process for repair/replacement parts and assemblies.
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of high school, 1 year of college engineering curriculum or equivalent.
