ABOUT THE WHITE HELMETS

The Stichting White Helmets Foundation (SWHF) is an independent, international not for profit organisation that aims to provide aid to communities and persons recovering from conflicts and disasters; provide support and orientation to refugees and communities in hosting countries; and support justice and human rights efforts. The SWHF works in partnership with WH offices in Syria, Turkey and Canada.

SCOPE OF WORK

The IT Officer, supported by the IT Manager, ensures the smooth functioning, safety and security of IT hardware and software for the WH external offices in the Netherlands and Canada.

TERMS OF REFERENCE

  • Duty station: The Hague, Netherlands
  • Line manager: IT Manager
  • Line management Responsibility: N/A
  • Full-time/Part-time: Full-time

Tasks and activities:

  • maintenance of ICT equipment and applications for the external offices;
  • set up and configuration of the end-user requirements;
  • installation and maintenance of the communications equipment for wired and wireless networks (LAN/WAN);
  • troubleshooting software and application problems.
  • providing a help desk and handling colleague queries and ICT issues regarding networks, hardware and software;
  • tracking inventory and evaluating new technologies;
  • ensure security of ICT equipment by periodically performing system scans and updates;
  • prepare data spreadsheets, charts, graphs, and other documents as required.
  • Support in other technological specialties, such as web design and database management.

Required qualifications: Education, Experience and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field.
  • At least two years of experience of progressively technical experience in IT field.
  • Networking support experience.
  • Hands on experience in Microsoft Operating Systems, Microsoft Office solution, systems installation and configuration is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of PC hardware set-up and configuration.
  • Cross-cultural communication and interpersonal skills, and able to interact professionally with culturally diverse staff and stakeholders.
  • Clear understanding operational and personal security factors including high levels of cyber hygiene.
  • High standards of confidentiality, reliability and discretion.
  • Integrity by sharing the SWHF’s values and ethical standards
